Team "Northshore" fishes out of a 10' Pelican boat that we take to and from the tourneys on top our cars. We see a handful of other cartoppers too, including at least one canoe.
We are at a disadvantage on the larger lakes as far as getting to spots quicker and in our case having some power issues, but we can sometimes fit into smaller places and go into shallower waters that the big boats can't and our launches are much less involved (can put in and take out of water from almost anywhere) and time consuming.
I'd love a bigger boat, but as a great man on here once said before....the Peli-CAN and does!
