I was thinking about the misc category the other day. There should be some kind of a formula to compare carp, pike, turtles etc. I mean an 8 pound pickerel is impressive but can never beat a carp in weight alone.
True, but for the sake of simplicity which is what these sort of things are about...
I mean, sure I could go after bass..not an insult..like everyone else. I have, I am good at it, I have a few large fish under my belt...but this sort of thing lets us who choose to enjoy other fish have a bit of fun.
Heck I'd be even willing to add stripers to this..caught in freshwater. As another option for big fish in the misc category, cause I know I could beat them too!

End of the day the truth is though, carp are one of the biggest freshwater fish..with no max size ( the world record now being over 100lb )..there is no way to really compare them to any other freshwater species. I typically equate a 20lb carp with 5 pound bass. Not horribly common but not unreasonable to expect from a good session. 30lb fish are in the 7-8 lb bass range and 40+ is equal to 10lb bass..in our state anyway. Down south bass go bigger..the equals would change

Could always just be left to the digression of the person holding the challenge to judge the most impressive fish in the misc category. In this case Valpey would be left to choose what he was most impressed by since its a mixed category.

I hope that opens up the door to people that are traveling! I just hope no one is going to Falcon lake or Okechobee for LM's...then, I'll admit, I'm F'ed!

I will also concede that I amended the Large Mouth Category. If there happens to be a tie (which I don't think will happen due to the number of 5 plus pounders I plan to catch), the person with the most total weight will get the payout...if there happens to be a tie then I will payout both.
Example: Two people land 4- 5 plus pounders and I only catch 1 during the timeline. We would add the weight of each person's 4 LM bass, and the heaviest weight would get $30 (4-1= 3 * $10).
I hope I'm still considered Arrogant!
And Shawn....if you're hunting for Pickeral, then feel free to set up a bounty for biggest slimedart lol!

i remember back in the day before i had kids when a vacation actually meant vacation .... now its just a week that i stay home and do house work and watch my bratty kids and NOT do what i want to do lol. im going on vaca second week of the kids summer vacation and we are going up to belgrade lakes in maine like we do every summer and i plan on posting tons of awsome pike and smallie pics and my woman is gonna be watching the kids so i can fish all week only she dont know it yet!

lmao! actually where im going in maine is quite literally a trophy pike factory and people regularly pull 20 + lbers so 30+ isnt out of the question its just a matter of me actually finding and hooking into one that size lol. but who am i kidding ? i could be as arrogant as i want and im sure you will still come up with some fat pot bellied sow to blow everyone away with lol. im an arrogant cocky prick but im also a realist lol. good luck!
