Sam if the t bar moves you can attach the straps to your roof rack in an X fashion I would think. They just get rid of the sway and that should work fine.

smoke, no way you aren't going to love it. plus, think about the setup with that 2.5 hp you have. money.

We are going to be finishing up Sam's rig this weekend and starting my crawdad pretty soon.

I have an idea of how I want to set it up. BUT

This is going to be called pimp my crawdad. SOO if you had your ideal cartopper (crawdad) what would be included in it??

I think it depends on what you want. To me the crawdad is the ultimate car topper. Super light, super durable. I had one before I got my jon and I had pimped it out a bit. It ended up being too heavy for my liking. Dragging it and lifting it into my truck became a... chore. If I had to do it all over again I would strip it to it's bear minimum, make it as light as possible, push the front seat back, install a Tm plug and run wires to the back so the battery/s can go under the rear seat for room. For me, the best thing about a crawdad is it can be dragged through the woods or sand and get you into and onto some untapped honey holes.

Saw you guys talking about a crawdad. Just posted a pic of mine. Sorry I dont have one when complete tobusy fishing out of it. If you look where the seats are, underneath in the front is where my battery goes. I used Zues fasteners so people can not open it with out a proper tool and steal stuff. The back has a lid and has floatation as well as the nessary boating stuff if inspected. I raised the seat areas if you can tell 1 1/2 inches to cleaqr the battery as well as straighten out the leg area. I used 1/4 plywood including the floor which i fastened with industrial velcro. I used blocking in between the floor rails so the floor was flat between the rails. Hope this is helpful to you.

I definitely need that

OH YEA, almost forgot, I sealed wood on all sides with a gray floor epoxy. Held up well all year.

you are 100% correct Rich. I am going to keep it light but I am going to make the addons plug and play to keep it light. I am planning on having removable floors in 3 sections. If I am fishing alone I only need 1 section. The livewell is going to be a completely self contained unit. All controls are on the outside of the cooler. The cooler is going to look like R2D2 when I am done with it.

Muffinman, thanks for posting. Great idea on the velco for the floors. Are you using the regular seats than came with it or are you using pedistal seats? I am going to use my triton butt seats on mine.

have you and damon thought about the weight distribution? i'm sure you have. i'm not too familiar with crawdads but am more than willing to help out with the manual labor.

to save weight how about using anti-fatigue mats for the floor like i'm going to do? pretty cheap at home depot. damon and smoke said to just spray the 3M adhesive on there and stick it down and it should hold.

I have been messing around with the configuration of my crawdad for years. Finally settled on what works best for me. Pretty much stripped down, bowmount motor and transom motor, 100qt cooler livewell. Super light and portable. Even enough room to take naps.

I like your idea about the floors Sam. If there is one thing I want to change it would be something lighter than the carpeted wood floors.

Here are some pics of my setup. Nothing fancy but a fishing machine. Also added a friends setup with a spray foam deck Very Happy Pretty unique but I wouldn't recommend it.
