i agree with saftey first for everybody. This is too much fun for anything like what happened the other day. Good tournament everybody!

I agree with chuck for a trolling motor start. or at least some kind of controlled start. I belive that there is a no wake zone near any boat ramps ,shore line exc. If this happened to the general public with little kids. the #@$! would have hit the fan. for safety there should allways be a no wake when passing by outhers. as for car toppers i think it would be more safe for them to leave last. I wouldent want to troll out for 5 mins just to here the roar of 15 + bass boats heading twards me. half the boats go to the left. the outhers go to the right. I,m in the middle 5 min off shore and screwed when the wakes hit. and they will weather 15 or 45 mph thats a bad spot to be in

just my 2 cents

I'm surprised that an incident happened but it most likely was an accident and that team probably feels bad and didn't do it intentionally. but if everybody idles, rows or electric motor a safe distance apart at the start this would be acceptable for smaller boats.
Probably a good idea to have a designated starter explain this issue at every start of a tourney as a reminder.

im onboard with the cartoppers to get a safe early head start 10-15 minutes is really reasonable. and ill be more than happy to give any of them a tow back to weigh ins because i know ive been in cartoppers and wish i had a decent engine at the end of the day to get back to the truck. Smile

Why bother making rules for people being idiots? If you need to make a rule for a person who lacks common sense, the rule should be thank for coming you are no longer allowed to participate in the tournaments. I've seen a whole lot of idiots driving boats and it's not worth it to have them around.

being of the "Cartopper Class", we know what we face during these events. If anyone notices, the Kman and I head either far left or far right and line ourselves up so we are surfing when the wakes from you bigger boys come in. It's not because we don't want to chit-chat beforehand, but because we don't want to end up in the drink. We understand and get it and it's worked out well for us thus far. Getting a head start would be cool for getting closer to the further away areas first, but I don't think it's absoluetly necessary just for safety reasons.

It comes with the territory of being a Cartopper and if things change and we do get into a bigger boat, we will definately be mindful of the cartoppers, but it is what it is and I am just grateful to be a part of the tourneys period. Common sense needs to be practiced by ALL teams. Just everyone be careful, pretty simple.

congrats to the landlords as they continue rolling where they left off from last year. i've been extremely busy at work this year and haven't had much time to weigh on the conversation. but i agree, something should be done to accommodate car toppers so everyone can have a safe, fun time.

someone did the same thing to us last year after our accident and it scared the crap out of us. we thought we were going to sink again. fortunately, we have a better boat now and we were able to handle the wake, but it does make you nervous. even if near the shore, nobody wants to tip and loose equipment, phones, wallet, etc.

as luck would have it, i'm flying out again on the 7th and can't make the tourney on the 8th. we should be able to make the 15th and will hopefully see everyone in shrewsbury.
