Ponkapoag 4/14/2012
Fished about 5 hours in the kayak. Caught three nice bass and some pan fish. Largest bass was est. 5-6 lbs. I don't have a scale but it was 19" (47 cm) long and fat. Also had a 3 pounder and 1 pounder.
There is another way into Ponki. If you re coming from 138 and down Randolph street you can take the second to last left before the normal cartopper parking. Go down to the end of the road and there is a cul de sac. Parking was never a problem and the trail at the end is perfect for putting in a kayak with stealth. I hope no one gets mad at me for posting this...
the parking lot gate is open every morning(i've never showed up too early)and closes at dusk but the gate down the fire road too the access is never open(u need wheels for your boat)
Gotta Love Ponkapoag, been fishin there for 35 years!!! i didnt see the fish but a friend showed me a pic of a 9 pounder taken through the ice 2 winters ago.
Yes Scoob. The gate has always been open early in the morning when I've arrived.
Nice fish man. Is the only way into Ponkapoag off Randolph st? Is that metal gate/access always open to cars?
