  • I launch at the parking area off Pleasant street right by the Canton Park & Recreation buildings.

Turn in at the metal gate and fire hydrant. It's a big dirt parking lot that has porta-johns and picnic tables in the summer.

  • I fished it 2 weeks ago and didn't get any bass in the boat, but we did catch a few healthy perch and a bunch of pickerel. The only other time I'd been was last October and I caught a couple decent sized bass but there wasn't a lot of action.

  • Good point about the weed kill and possible pesticides. The NW shore is always littered with golf balls too, they must make their way over from the course on the south side. This place could be great. The wall on Pleasant is packed every afternoon in the warmer months, and I think that most of those guys aren't throwing the fish back. Sucks.

  • They blast it with weed kill and it is adjacent to a golf course so there is a lot of run off. Turns the water a bright green color, nasty stuff

  • No true boat ramp. As mikem said, I've seen cartoppers put in to the right of the wall on Pleasant St. There is a small opening, with a few large boulders that prevent cars from backing right to the water's edge. A few hundred yards North on Pleasant (toward Washington St.), there is a gated clearing that leads to access points on the NW shore. You can't pull right up to the water, and the path to the water is not cleared, so you'd be dragging a boat through a wooded area. So putting a small boat in is probably easier via Pleasant. Caught my personal best here last Aug, but my next 6 or so trips in the fall I got shut out. Thought it was just me at first, but then I started seeing lots of dead soldiers, multiple LMB including a 3-4 lber, biggest freshwater eel I've ever seen, smaller baitfish and turtles. Not sure what was going on there, but tough to recommend it based on that experience. Although someone recently posted a pic of a decent pick they grabbed there. Haven't heard of many big bass being pulled out recently.

  • thanks @mikem

  • You could put a kayak or canoe in on pleasant street, as far as a public boat ramp I'm not sure

  • anyone know where the access is

  • This place has some good Largemouth fishing. In the mid to late summer the weeds are so thick you can walk on them...lol.
Real good in the early spring.
    Think weedless,trebles are trouble here.

Canton Res Description

The dam along Pleasant St. was rebuilt in late 2012 and the water level in the pond rose 2-3 feet. It is unclear what effect this has had on the fishing.
