Have you fished at Neponset River, Canton? Be the first to comment on this fishing spot.
The locals call it Neponset River, but I'm not sure if that's actually part of the Neponset.
Used to fish this river all the time as a kid. Caught the species listed, plus all sorts of turtles. Snapping turtles are very common here.
Worms with tails worked very well here. Spinnerbaits are good towards the bridge, where the river is wider. There are a lot of rocks though, so be careful not to lose it!
Pulled the biggest smallmouth bass I have ever seen out of here. Must have been a trophy size fish. It would bite everyone's spinnerbait, and did not learn its lesson.
Rubber worms used to work then, 20+ years ago. Very shallow, fast flowing river. No presentation was even required back then. I would just cast and reel, cast and reel, and sometimes let the current take my bait and present it for me.
There were rumors of raw sewage leaking into this river/stream.
