  • Went fishing at Sheppard Pond last evening (8-27-12) and caught my personal best, 14 inch largemouth bass. Also caught two 7-8 inch catfish. I think they were Bullheads but I'm not sure. I wasn't expecting to find catfish here. These were my first two catfish, and it was a blast reeling those things in!

Shepard Pond Description

Little pond off of a main street in Canton. Fish near the gate off to the right if you are looking at the water from Washington Street.

Lots of vegetation and growth along the shorelines, so weedless is a must. No monsters pulled from here yet, but there are some respectable 2+ lb. bass in here.

Believe it or not, the banjo minnow, yes, the seen-on-TV banjo minnow, works like a charm here and has produced every time I've gone since this spring (2011).
