natick guy, it was really good you brought it up as i'm sure it would've come up sometime anyway. looking at michaels, napas, bams, and flymasters comments it seems like the best thing to do might be to let it all play out, maybe increase each tournament by a spot or 2, and keep things how they are as the cancellations and car topper division might very well balance things out. doing this would probably prevent things from going too far and creating a club type atmosphere. again, the biggest appeal of fishing through this site is that it's NOT a club and it's fun as hell - you have guys with a couch, portable stereos, team t shirts, you name it.

nofx's idea can't even be argued against though.

SEE YOU BOYS GET IT!!! I LIKE 15 TEAMS IF IT GETS OUTA CONTROL WE WILL MAKE 2 DIVISIONS TO EVEN THINGS UP . BIG BOATS AND SMALL BOATS. REMEMBER NOT ALL GUYS WITH BIG BOATS HAVE SMALL BOATS AND IF THEY DO IT'S TROLLING MOTOR ONLY. SO IT WILL BE ON NAPA!!! THEY WILL BE ON OUR PLAYING FIELD KID!!!! HA HA

DON'T WORRY WE WILL PLAN THE NEXT YEARS DATES AND WE ALL KNOW WHO ALWAYS SHOWS UP!! BAM NAILED IT 1ST COME 1ST SERVE I WILL POST IT ON SUNDAY NIGHTS AFTER THE TOURNEYS AND 8PM SOUNDS GOOD TO ME.

THIS SHOWS ONE THING FOR SURE . EVERYONE LOVES THESE TOURNEYS AND FISHING FOR SURE HA HA

AND ALSO I THINK ALL TOURNEYS COUNT FOR YOUR AVERAGE.
I KNEW YOU GUYS WOULD LIKE THE STATS I'LL KEEP THEM GOING!!

JUST REMEBER IT'S ALL GOOD FUN ENJOYING A FEW LAUGHS AND BEING ON THE WATER.

I WAS THINKING WE SHOULD HAVE A WILD CARD TOURNEY AND WE ALL SWITCH PARTNERS ONE TIME. THAT WOULD BE A GOOD TOURNEY!!

Posted Tue Oct 05, 2010 6:13 pm

LOVE the idea of the "wild card"!!! Lets just have FUN, many tournys not everyone showed up,So worring about to many people fishn any given tourny seems a bit much. I think maybe we are getn alittle ahead of ourselves here! Also like the idea of 2 div. I guess I gota get a Cartopper??? Last thing I have is I like the idea of more cook outs and beer.

Posted Tue Oct 05, 2010 7:17 pm

Either way i believe it will all work itself out. It is easy for us to base next year off the last tourney, which was Boone and 20 teams. I will almost gaurntee we wont have an issues with the amount of teams next year in 90% of the tourney's. It will go as smooth as this year. Some people move, have kids, get a weekend job, who knows. But alot can change in a few months.

I guess i shouldnt have brought up the gaurenteed spots, as it wouldnt be fair at all. 1st come 1st serve, but like i said it will work out and we will be fine all next season

BUT if I do ever get bumped out due to missing a sign up, i will rent scuba gear and start cutting lines Sunday morning from 7 to 2, hahahahaha

Lastly, this isnt a club, wont be a club...and I have no worries that this will ever change....this thread has been a nice forum to discuss things for next year. Lets continue with that, and not worry so much about becoming club like....We wont let that happen!

Good ideas Smoke, your that man kid!

MAFF

I think there were some good suggestions brought up and some that are so so LOL. Anyway i don't see the need to revisit them all but i would like to throw in my two cents. Being new to the MAFF Tournament Series I have to say it's been a great experience Kyle and i have met some great guys and gal ( Bam's wife). I do belong to a bass club outside MAFF and have been an active member for over 10 years but i have enjoyed the MAFF Series so much i am considering leaving the other club. I enjoy the laid back atmosphere, no pressure, no meetings and the limited number of rules. There is one thing that MAFF has that the other " bass clubs" have and that's talented and competitive fisherman and women. MAFF actually takes it one step further because we're willing to share our knowledge and experience with others, something that you don't find to often in other clubs.

Team Happy Hookers suggestions

1. Identify those must have rules i.e. starting time, ending time, weighing short and dead fish and safety. Keep everything else simple.
2. Have fun and enjoy the time you have on the water.

Thanks

Ed & Kyle

Smoke and Johnny thanks again for everything

I agree with everybody on everything. There was one tourney i was late for and appologize, but johnny was cool about it, and i met him on the water and paid him. Can't wait for next season, and see the new Tourny line ups. I work every other weekend, so hopefully it works out for me. I love MAFF. Beats anything else out there. Thanks guys.

you guys don't need to think too hard since you do an awesome job already. focus more on the food and beers. it seems like first come first serve is ok in the end. just have the car topper division and maybe a few more spots in the regular tourneys. i think the cold weather and awesome boat launch just put everyone on edge lol

With so much drama in the LBC it's kinda hard being Angler21 AKA Valpey lol - my attempt to be a rapper, sorry Snoop! JK

I'm quite confident that our fearless leader's Smoke and Johnny will continue to put on fair, fun, and consistent tournaments next year. It makes it easy since we fish with an awesome group of guys/gals with some serious passion for angling. Johnny and Smoke have done a nice job keeping it simple- don't fix it if it's not broken. This site will continue to grow which is an indication of the top notch advice, fishing trips, photo's, fellow anglers, tournaments and laid back atmosphere that this site represents. A break from all the normal day to day bullshit we all encounter. An excuse to have a day on the lake with Napa and the crew is always a great time!

In my Arrogant opinion the key areas that should be black and white have already been agreed on: start time, end time, payouts, and the general rules that are listed on the home page of the site. First come first serve with the exception of the following teams- Johnny, Smoke and the prior year champions AKA Landlords, so basically the same as this year. Even as the site grew, we still had plenty of tournaments with 12 teams or less, actually the vast majority of them. I am like most people on this site and wish I could make them all but that's not reality, so make sure to jump on the ones we can make. The addition of a Car Topper Division and switching a couple locations should ensure everyone a chance to make most of these outings. Keep the results, for sure- it gives us the oppotunity to be more Arrogant!

This site is awesome- Thank you everyone! I look forward to finishing the year strong before the frost so look out for my October Slob, I'm sure he's right around the corner haha.

At ease Anglers!

Tons of great cartop spots, not to many big bodies, there is only a couple I can think of that could handle a regular tourney.

Are you talking now or for next year? I'd travel a little further than we have for some of the tourneys this year, to do some more fishing with/against you guys on the board. Fishing season ain't over yet!

If you mean next year, why not. I'd also like some (one?) more up in the northeast area too (can't imagine why Wink ). Just some thinking before the rods get put down in the basement.
