i hear ya i greased the bar in the back and it's a lil better running a lil choppy tho gonna switch plugs and been burning old fuel out too so hopefully that solves that. where can i get a new fuel filter for that johnson 120??i would like top switch that out to. i had it doing like 40 yesterday but def nor running 100 percent yet hopefully next time out old gas will be all gone .also the front well should have plug just like the back correct???trying to figure the livewells out i know how to fill em but switch on the panel for 2-4-6 minute does seem like water ever stops running.let me know if that sounds right or not.i have to replace bilge pump also but no big deal $20 bucks at harbor freight for a 500gph should do it had an attwood 500 so thats nothing!!! let me know boys if you have any answers for me k.

Monnick supply sells live well plugs all sizes under a buck!
as for your old gas siphin and use for outside fire place,or whatever and replace with some high test that will clean your pipes!!
your timer you can repair at home open up back panals and set timer and listen should come on for time you set or just relpace timer! get new spark plugs at an auto store ask for the proper gap or they should do for you,lot less cash then a marine shop.no need to change filter unless its real bad. glad you caught some fish nice job!!! AND THAT IS JUST THE BEGINING!!!!!!!!!

for plugs make sure you have Champion QL78YC gap them at .030. if it still runs rough you might need to clean out your carbs. one other thing to check is a bent prop shaft. that will cause it to feel like it runs rough.
I would also suggest a 10 micron water seperating fuel filter mounted in the boat somewhere. with this ethanol fuel they are a must have. those motors are strong runners. you should be seeing somewhere between 5500-6000 rpm's at WOT. if not drop a size on the prop.

I agree with what Freebie said she should run at 5500rpm, play with tilt and trim once boat is on plain, that will also make her run faster, she should run at over 50mph easy! Old gas will make anything run bad, with the additives they put in gas, it will go bad in a month or less, I beat that gas is 6-7 months old. I hope your happy overall with your boat. Also that trolling motor has 2 stages 12-24 volt, if you run it at 12 volt not alot of power BUT will run ALL-DAY 24 volt more power BUT will not last as long. See you out there! I have never done this but I have heard that steering fluid or transmission fluid will work on the cables as well, if those cables are cracked or starting to separate inside the plastic housing don't take the chance replace them.

I CHANGED THE PLUGS WHICH WERE THE WRONG ONES THEY HAS INSTALLED AND CHANGED OUT THE GAS AND ALSO ADDED STARTRON TO IT.NOW SHE RUNS GREAT STEERING IS LOOSENING UP A LIL SHOULD HAVE MY SPARE TIRE TOMORROW FOR IT PUTTING IN A NEW BILGE PUMP.NOW JUST NEED AN ONBOARD CHARGER AND LIVEWELL TIMER AND I AM GOOD TO GO!!!!

THE FOOT CONTROLLER SAYS ITS ON 24 BUT ONLY DRAINS 1 BATTERY SO I THINK WIRING IS WRONG AND WHEN FLIPPED TO 12V IT DOESNT SPIN AT ALL ANY IDEAS BOYS?????

I think you have a 12 volt trolling motor that can run on 12 or 24 volts. There is a big difference between a 12 volt motor and 24 volt motor. The wiring is different also. You can find some good info out on the internet. I think what is going on is if you use that motor you can switch from 12/24 but you still have a 12 volt motor but the batteries will be wired in sequence not parallel. I had same switch/motor until i went to Jim Barry after i got fed up with not enough power and questioning the wiring. At leats you finding this out before in a 8 hr tourney.

Oh yeah, Do you have a voltage meter? That will help alot finding out what the motor is drawing. Check the volts of your batteries too. I think if they are even slightly lower than 12 they are to tired.

Smoke, I noticed that you have both Positive and negative wiring to the trolling motor receptacle from each battery. Therefore you should have a 12/24 receptacle for the trolling motor plug at the bow.
I'll give you a call..

hi smoke. do you have 3 battarys in your rig then you should have 1 batt for the engine and all your 12 volt accessories. (seperate from the 2 trolling battarys) the two trolling motor battarys should be 12 volts. but when you connect the negitive tirminal of one battary to the positive tirminal of the outher batt you get 24 volts. if you have that jumper cable between the neg and pos make shure you clean all tirminals with a wire brush or sand paper I cant stress that enough they have to have a good clean contact and tight if its dirty or loose your wasting your time checking anything else good luck. let me know if you need any help

yeah i seen a wiring for 12/24 and see what you mean about the jumper wire from one battery to the other trolling batt.i will look and see if there is one. i have 2 trollers and 1 starter battery. johnson foot controller switch only works 1 setting and does nothing when switched the other way. should work on both right!!!

I dont have that set up with mine (12/24 switch)but ya it should kick over to 24 volts .How meany wires are on the trolling motor? How meany wires are on the switch? typicaly they have 3 and 4 wire systems ORANGE,RED,BLACK, the orange and black should control the 12 volt and the red and black should control the 24 volts. both should have a breaker or fuse @ the batt,s or in line. do you know how to test the switch with a contanuity tester. give me a call

ALRIGHT BOYS WE CONQUERED THE FOOT SWITCH I TESTED ALL THE WIRES IN THE RECEPTACLE AND REALIZED THE WEREN'T IN THE RIGHT ORDER ACCORDING TO THE DIAGRAM ON THE PACKAGE FOR THE PLUG END.SWAPPED THE NEGATIVES ON THE BATTERIES AND TESTED IT AGAIN AND THEY WERE RIGHT THEN WIRED NEW PLUG END ON AND THAT MAGIC HAPPENED WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!!LOL WE ALSO INSTALLED THE BILGE PUMP AND LIVEWELL TIMER NOW JUST NEED THE ONBOARD CHARGER!!!

ALMOST THERE BUT READY TO GO!!!!!
