The state record smallie came out of Wachusett and I'm pretty sure willy68 only catches fish over 4lbs there but you gotta know that place. It's huge

I went to the Merrimack today and realized I left my blade baits at home. Couldn't get em to hit a crank. Had a couple of followers but that was it.

Hey mike,

I can take you to my honey hole during the summer for that monster smallmouth bass. Easy access. only need bring kayak for it.

tubing and crankbaits worked well. I haven't tried jig yet since I just learned jig technique at last summer. It was my weakest thing to use until recently. very effective for me. Anyway, I heard they are hot for smallies.

I caught my personal best Smallie on wachusett res early this summer on a live crawfish with about 8 to 10 feet leader under the bobber. It was on the west boylston side under the bridge where the hotdog truck parks just before the bait shop. Lots of smallies early summer to be had there, a lot of 1lb range on small to medium shiners and I got a 3 and 3.5 ( my profile pic) on live craw but those big bites were few and far between. I never had any luck on artificial there though omly live bait but im relatively new to finnesse jigging and tubes im more of a big bait largemouth guy so they probly looked at my lures and said f*** you buddy. For such a mediocre sized fish ( atleast when compared to bucketmouth standards) it fought like a marlin! Good luck this year

two years ago I was at that very same bridge at the Chu. It was my first time there. I was driving by and had no plans to fish, I caught a few small bass right under the bridge. I gut hooked one of them pretty bad. he was bleeding bad and was not going to make it. I tried to revive him best I could. he swam off on the surface but he was going to die. 10 feet away from me out on the water he is flipping and flopping and bleeding. Out of nowhere a Bald Eagle comes soaring in from behind me and grabs the fish. scared the hell out of me. I have pics of it flying off.

I also had a hawk kill a rabbit 15 feet away from me and eat it right in front of me. We are privileged in the things we get to see while fishing. I have some of the hawk rabbit pics in my profile.
