i'm still getting familiar with the best way to organize things and set up efficiently and a few things came up yesterday. i have the hitch and the bed extender and have to use hitch pins / clips in 3 sections. 1 on the hitch / 1 1-4" adapter, 1 where the extender connects to it, then one on the T bar at the top. i'm going to get a few locks like these:

can i just use those as pins instead of taking all the pins and clips off and then putting the locks on? the idea here is to not have to take the bar apart all the time when fishing and to just keep it on my car.

another thing we found was that the back boater seat is too high with the standard 11" pedestal pin post and seat. can i just put the seat with the spring mount directly into the base plate? or is the short post on the seat mount not strong enough? will the spring ruin the baseplate?

You can use the seat in the pin base without any issues.

Sam I just went on tinboats.net and there was a question from a while back asking the same thing as you

here is the link the guy recommended, they make 6inch seat posts

thanks guys. neil, i already found that and will try both out...the shorter pedestal and putting the seat directly into the base plate. i guess we'll see which one's a good height.

That boat is sick!!!!

Amazing the talent some folks have (and I am not one of them).

I have a few more final touches I need to do before next year. I have to cut up the anti-fatigue mats and glue them to the floors, buy some nav. lights, and will change up the rear seat to make it sit lower in the boat for the guy in the back. It will either go directly into the base plate or I'll buy that shorter pedestal that Neil posted about. I may also seal up any openings in the conduit to be extra safe and same goes for the live well. It's overkill but I might as well.
