Last season I switched to all baitcaster rigs. I always have a frog tied on with 50lbs braid and its one of my favorite fishing techniques.

I throw my frogs on a 7ft 6 Heavy Shimano Crucial matched with an Quantum KVD reel ( the only Quantum I own) last year guys were laughing watching me huck it, standing at the Bedford launch for the Concord River I almost put it on the land across the other side, I know I can throw it 50 yrds easy

Damn 50yds.
So it sounds like preference but mediumheavy to heavy is the way to go! Ill get a bait caster and try it out! Can't be wicked expensive!

I use an IROD Genesis II Casting Rod 7'5" Fred's Magic Stick with a Shimano 201D7 or 201E7 with 60lb Sunline FX2 braid.

+1 No spinning rod for skipping Joe?

I'm still practicing my 5-10' pitches with my frogs before I attempt such a feat

I'm getting pretty good with skipping. They call me skippy!

I have thrown a frog quite a bit and thought the only way to go was with spinning tackle. I was able to make longer casts and be more accurate. Then I bought a Spro King Daddy and started throwing it on one of my swimbait rods and haven't thrown anything since. I always felt that there was/is a point where you outcast your hook setting ability, even with braid. To be able to make long casts and have consistent hook-ups I had to use a larger frog and stouter, longer rod. For me, throwing a 1 ounce frog on a swimbait rod has become deadly and it also allows me to flip into some seriously thick cover.

+1 Ralph. King Daddy is the bomb.
