I use braid on all my rods Power Pro and Sufix 832. I tie on a flouro leader with a uni to uni knot. I use a very long leader. Clear water I'll use up to 30' of leader. This gives me plenty of leader to change lures or retie nicked line without the need to retie new flouro leader.
The extra length of leader gives me enough stretch for crankbaits also.
I use straight braid for top water baits only.
