just curious what everyone's favorite warm water fishing techniques are.. i've read so many different things.. the fish go deep when it's hot, they hide in the shade of the lily's and trees.. I've only been fishing a couple years and have found no rule of thumb that stands true.. thoughts anyone??

IMO it depends on the pond you are fishing if its a shallow water pond the most likely will be in the Lilly pads and if its a pond with deep water with structure then they could be there two things to keep in mind is location of bait fish and were the most available oxygen if for the fish

My 3 go to techniques are swimbaits, frogs and texas rigged creature baits all in and around thick weeds. I will always have a buzzbait tied on and a Jig as well

it's funny you say keep in mind where the bait fish are.. last night a lil evening fishing.. bait fish (giant i think shiners) were literally jumping in to our boat.. we were fishing the pads about 15 ft from them.. and our lil jon boat was getting hit with jumping bait fish.. some large mouth jumping right out of the water after them. slamming into the bottom and side of the boat.. weird.. lil freaky.. stopped fishing just to watch them..

when the baitfish are freaking out being chased by largemouth, I would not stop fishing.

and senko

it depends on a lot of things like water clarity, depth, structure/cover and so forth. the cape will fish very differently than a stained pond with pads and slop that's 6' max.

you never know though. i was at a place that had 16' of water with a good shoreline dropoff. the water was relatively clear with a slight stain. the fish were literally in 1' of water right on the bank.

Lots of factors to consider. Time of day, type of day (sunny, cloudy)
Water depth, where are the drop offs, any current.
Cover available. (lillypads, docks, overhanging trees, grass, etc.)

You need to try everything until you find what works. Patterns can change from day to day, to hour to hour.

You have to experiment and have multiple technique to fall back on...

No. I did not say senko or pop r or a tube. I did not mention a crankbait, a spinnerbait a jerkbait or a worm. Laughing
My point was big baits in and around the weeds. Don't avoid the weeds and give em a big meal.
