Didnt skimp on the size eh?

2oz are pretty heavy duty. No need for hooks if you KO them with the weight.

Did you get the 8.0:1 STX?

Nice! Congrats! Ive never had to use more than 1 1/2 oz weights for punchin. Usually 1oz does the job, but its good to kno ur setup can handle
It

Congrats buddy! One question tho don't you think you would have been better off with a 7 fter? 8 ft is a lot of rod to handle even for someone my height. Most guys that don't punch or pitch don't realize what a work out it is when you are throwing 2, 3, or even 500 pitches a day with a rod that long its going to be an extra workout! Good luck with it bro!

Thats a great point sinista. I have the powell diesel 7-6.. And it sems that no mayyer how light ur setup is, ur pitching a heavy weight all day! ...

Kamil best of luck with that as rich said BEAST of a rod. I pitch with a 7' kistler rated to 2oz. Neil is 100% correct on trying to keep it light.

I pitch and punch with a rod Shimano doesn't make anymore Crucial 7ft 2 XHeavy I actually add weight to it by putting a balance kit on the butt to weight the ass end down ( I think I said this on another post) the counter weight makes the rod do most of the work and helps cantilever the bait plus keeps the tip high once the bait lands. You can pick em up for 9.99 $ at bass pro it comes with 3 weights to adjust to your liking
