I have been making my own soft plastics for over a year now. its a great hobby for the winter and there is nothing more satisfying that catching a fish on your own lure. I make senko type baits, dropshot worms, creature baits (jig trailers), and buzz frogs. I also make all of my own jigs (brush and football) I actually pour all my jigs with a nonlead metal. One plus with making my own jigs is that I can use all premium hooks!
If you want to get into pouring your own baits, you can do so for a pretty small investment. But I do warn you it's quite an addiction. All you need is a microwave, pyrex cup, plastisol, colorant, salt and a mold. Check out
