Had checked out Rohunta in orange the other day, just a good time to get the line wet! could have put the kayak in and covered a lot of area!

Lake Boon in Hudson MA is still covered in ice...but there are some local lakes in the Marlboro/Framingham/Hopkinton area availible to fish. These cold nights are setting us back though.

Probably because most of the spots everyone mentioned are not in Western Mass....

I live near Boston, but I can assume that the Conn River is open...and you should check areas like the Oxbow or Turners Falls.

thanks volume, i'll check those out. is there fishing from the shore there or do i need the boat? i broke my arm last week so the boat is off limits for now.

Ouch! I've never fished either spot, but I've read lots of good stuff about them (I did a lot of research for ice fishing them, but never made it out there). I'm assuming you'll need a boat for most parts of the river though...check google maps satellite view or thiere is a Mass Wildlife pond map for the Oxbow, I think it's called Oxbow Pond or something like that, Northampton.

Sorry bout the arm, Oxbow is not far from you if you are near rohunta.
There is a park there but i'm not sure what it's like from shore. Try quabin fishing area 3 on map. I have seen some big fish come from shore at that area.
