I caught a nice 19inch hawg in Webster Massachusetts. Where should I go nearby? I'm aiming for the LMB

If you go to Mass.gov website then into the DCR pages you can find access sites and some pond maps and they give a bit of outdated info on the ponds. My Personal Best Largemouth Bass came out of Whitehall Reservoir in Hopkinton 7 pounds 15 ounces, about 10 years ago.

my biggest was 4.5 pounds. Still haven't made it over five.

I just recently started bass fishing in June and I have caught one largemouth that was a whopping 4.6 lbs! Not bad for my first bass!

I caught 7.1, 7.1, 7.14lbs largemouth bass this year. Along with another 4 bass over 5lbs. Countless of 4 lbs.

Last year, only one 7.8lbs. Total 13 bass over 5 lbs. I think. Gotta re look my logbook for this.

Bottom line, each ponds/lakes has their own giants in there. You need to work hard to catch one. Sometimes you had luck to get one on few casts. That's why it's called fishing, not catching. Lol good luck on your quest.

deaffisherman, did you catch all those monsters in MA? If so, I'm very impressed. Those are big numbers for the Northeast! Kudos to you my friend!

deaffisherman does catch big fish. every spring he posts pics of huge fish. as for my biggest, 5.5 lber. my profile pic was a 5.3 and yesterday i caught a 5 even.

one of the best seasons so far (3rd bass fishing), i do want to break my PB this season though. round it up to 6

Five over 7 lbs. (7lb 6oz.,2@7lb 3oz.,7lb 2oz., 7lb even) four of those open water and the 7lb 6oz. through the ice! All from Southeastern Mass..Many over 6lbs. (20 as a guess)
Been fishing bass for 28 years or so, serious fishing last 15 years or so!

Impressive catches by deafisherman. My pb in the northeast is a 4.75 lmb caught at Lake Nippenicket. caught a bunch of 3 lb'ers but nothing bigger than 3.5 yet this season. my pb is a 6 pounder caught 2 summers ago at Lake El Capitan in SanDiego county. Lots of big ones out west in those California lakes.

havent broke 6 this year for largies.

biggest is 5.9 this year. few 4s. biggest bass ever was an unofficial 7. i say 7 cuz it was bigger then the 6.6 i caught in that same pond.

but smallies, im doing good. 10 over 3lbs and 5 over 4lbs

My biggest also unnoficial 7 or so no scale or tape. Go figure the height of trout season at a trout lake n no scale or tape to be found. Lots of 4s and 5s same yr I got the 7. All caught from shore. Couple yrs back. 4.18 my best this yr. Tough yr for me+ not getting out as much.

My biggest (sadly before cell phones became the norm) was a honest to go hand scale weighed 7lb smallmouth from the route 110 in Lowell/Dracut line at the bridge over the pond near the autobody shop/used car lot. I was really young and my mom had driven me and she saw this fish. Once in a lifetime smallie, never seen anything like that around here.

I'm not interested in catching small bass, so I throw nothing but big swimbaits. This tends to give me higher numbers than if I threw average baits.

6 over 10 lbs, but all were from Florida or Southern California.

In MA...

Honestly, probably near (1000) 4 pounders
Hundreds of 5s and 6s
Maybe a dozen 7s
(3) 8+ pounders

8 pounders were caught from Spot Pond in Stoneham, Putnamville in Danvers, and a pond in the Winchester/Woburn area that I will keep quiet.

I have caught one higher, but of course, no scale. The length/girth ratios put it at about 9 lbs 2 ounces. Of course, I won't pretend that that is for sure, because they aren't too accurate, but it was definitely close to 9. But I count my MA PB as 8-7, because that is the biggest one I weighed.

Not much this year, I've primarily been fishing for other species.

Edit: To be clear, this is over 20 or so years of bass fishing.

Wow, some really big fish caught by you all! Pb for me is 6.8 caught this year and just happens to be my profile pic. Now I'm looking to top the 7 lb mark before the season is over, fingers crossed! Good luck to you all in your pursuits of those big girls Smile !
