In July ill be fishing a tournament on Champlain out of Ticonderoga NY. Has anyone fished here before. If so do you have a tips, baits, colors, that worked for you. Hoping to get some nice green fish in the boat but browns are always good to fill the well first.

Anything is helpful.

Thanks

just throw frogs in the thick weeds and punch, pitch, and flip any cover you see with a senko or any plastic you prefer. green pumpkin works the best for me

use jigs for croppy waters. go fish at docks! Big fish tend to hang out there if it was croppy waters at lake Champlain. blue/black jig and brown/green colors too.

If it was nice day out there, use crankbait or tubes on weedlines nearby islands and drop off point. colors is not matter at all. (I tend to use anything on white, brown, and green colors lures) Morning bite is huge factor for me. I have to catch quality bass in the morning or rest of day are quantity hard picking bass. lot of small with couple of big bass.

If you want few of my honey holes, Pm me. I'll try my best to show you. (all of my spots are in Lake Champlain, not the river that connected to Lake George or at Lake George. I haven't fish at Lake George before) Good luck at tournament.

if your fishing ticonderoga dont worry about smallmouth unless the largemouth are completely shut down just punch the weedmats for big largemouth with any color

We fished that exact area in late May last year. Water was a milky color. We caught a ton of Largemouth and only one smallmouth. We had our best success with square billed crankbaits in a chartreuse color. We were probably 2-3 feet under the surface. Across from the fort there is a rocky shoreline. We caught most of our fish there. There were huge schools of bait fish there and the bass had them jammed up against the shoreline. Early morning was best but we caught them all day long. One member of our group caught 6 bass off the dock while we were still eating breakfast and before we even launched out boats. The size of the fish was what impressed me the most. Most were between 3-5 lbs. we didn't catch a bass under 2 lbs. and nothing over 5. It was probably the best couple of days bass fishing I have ever had. You can expect company there because there were two guys in expensive bass boats pre-fishing that area for a tournament. Good luck.

Thanks guys for the great info, I'll make sure I stock up before the trip. It's a couple months away but I'll give an update afterwards. It's is a two day club tourney in July but then less than a month later I will return for a big tournament to try and make the state team. So essentially ill be pre fishing the lake.

Ti has been slow lately if I wer you I'd make the run to missisqoui bay and fish the bridges weeds and Laydowns big bags of smallies have been coming out of there. My cousin just finished 6th in the everstart as a coangler and he had all smallies from missisqoui. Topwater and senkos caught all his fish
