I'm all for the Classic. Just one question. Do you need to qualify for the Classic? I.E. fish at least ( X ) amount of tourneys or at least place during the season.

I'd say if we were to do the classic then you'd have to accumulate (x) amount of points through the tourneys to qualify, but if we did team vs team I think that would be more fun and You wouldn't have to qualify, we would Just have to make the teams even. So my vote Is for team vs team.

M.A.F.F. classic sounds like a good idea. T-shirts for the winning team along with payouts for lunker largemouth and lunker smallmouth.
Plus, bragging rights all winter long...... reminds me of a team not to be named hahaha Laughing

i'd definitely consider a classic style tournament especially after our performance at the boone finale last year but rokibass brought up some good questions. would you need anything to qualify? i have a lot of club tournaments this year as well so i don't think i'll be able to make all (but probably most) MAFF tournaments as well unfortunately.

WE EITHER TAKE ALL TEAMS WITH OVER 8 TOURNEYS TO QUALIFY OR TAKE ONLY TEAMS THAT MADE IT IN THE MONEY??? I'M NOT AGAINST TAKING ALL BOATS IN SINCE IT IS THE LAST ONE FOR THE YEAR MAYBE NEXT YEAR AFTER THE FINAL WE DO A CLASSIC FOR THE TOP 10 TEAMS.THIS YEAR MAYBE LIKE CHUCK SAID HEAVIEST BAG, AND LUNKER. ALSO WE WILL BE PAYING OUT HEAVIEST BAG OF THE YEAR AND LUNKER OF THE YEAR AFTER THE WEIGH IN.

Just my thought on this, you should have had to fish in a min. of 8 TOTAL tourneys. OR we should do the top 10 teams, with a min of 8 TOTAL tourneys fished. Last year we had a few teams place ahead of us and smoke that only fished a hand full of these tourneys. I know we are all in this for some fun BUT it is nice to look at how you do as a team VS the field.

i know many guys on here have said the #1 thing they don't want is to make this whole thing like it's a bass club. i would suggest not limiting people or setting any entry limits / rules to keep it that way. i'm fine either way, as i'm sure i can make 8 tournaments, and i respect everyone's opinions, but as soon as you start limiting participation or making it exclusive, it starts to become less "fun" and more like a club or organization. if some of the regulars can't make 8 tournaments for whatever reason - personal reasons, family, emergencies, work are they still not allowed to fish the last tournament?

all of this came up at the end of last year...the standings didn't count for anything except a nice thing to keep track of so for now they shouldn't really matter except for pride. we fished in 2 tournaments last year b/c michael k got a bass boat. we had big bag and lunker at the boone finale so our average would be inflated. i know this but it doesn't matter to me what our average is. it's just a nice touch for justin to keep track for everyone for bragging rights. we fish these for fun, get out on the water, to meet everyone on here, and have some competition. i fish these b/c it's NOT a club. if people care, justin can just put the # of tournaments fished next to the average as a compromise. believe me guys, and i'm saying this from first hand experience - you don't want to come close to making this feel like a club whatsoever.

Sam, so what your sayn is that you'd have no problem with a team that fished 2 tourneys and walkn away with a win in MAFF BASS CLASSIC with shirts, hats or a trophy? After you had blown off work, had fights with the wife, kids birthday party's or what ever the case might be so you could fish in as many tourneys as you could? Some of us make a lot of sacrifices to make these tourneys like myself and I am sure many other family guys do as well. I get what your say about the club atmosphere and I do agree with you on that point. And I want to have as much fun as possible, but there should be a reward for your commitment. Just my thoughts

there are so many tourneys this year, I think it would be cool to have a classic at the end and only have the teams that were in the money at least once.

If there aren't entry rules, or a certain # you have to fish, then I guess if someone showed up just for the last tournament and took the cake, it would kind of suck but you'd have to change things and set up rules otherwise.

If it's a Classic, why not do it but without a trophy? Keep the standings / stats for fun still, but also do trophies, hats, or whatever at the end of the season based on those standings like big bag, highest average weight etc. and have THAT giving preference toward a certain # of tournaments fished in or some weighted average. That way, anyone can fish whenever they want and not feel obligated or worry about missing a few due to whatever reasons. And those people that sacrifice or do whatever they can to make all of these like you have more incentive or extra opportunity for something extra that the 1 tournament guy can't get. That could reward commitment and still keep things informal. Like I said, I don't think I'll have a problem meeting a minimum # of tournaments or going this way, but some people might not like it.

Sam, you make a good point. I was one of those guys that only fished a couple of tournaments last year. Because, of family & work I couldn't commit to any more. Sad I had a great time fishing with my son & meeting some new people, who also love to fish! If I had the time I would join a bass club. But, this is the next best thing for me.

On the other hand, I would complete understand if there were some qualifications to fish the final. Fair is fair. Selfishly my vote would be a team vs. team final. But, most important to me is keeping it fun, meeting new people & learning more to become a better angler!

I would come fish with you guys @ the final even if there was no room for me. Just for my personal stats, to see how I would stack up agaist the "BEST OF THE BEST"! Wink

Johnny & Smoke, you guys always do such a great job with these tourneys. I'm sure you will come up with something that works.

I'm in the same boat as fishingreek in I don't know how many tourneys I'll be able to fish but a Classic is a Classic and would completely understand if I didn't qualify.

Johnny and Smoke either way is alright by myself.

agreed. i'll definitely go with whatever everyone wants. i respect everyone's opinions and it's never personal so if anyone else has thoughts, let's hear them.

What if only the qualifying teams fished for the money @ the classic & any other teams could still enter the tourney. I'm assuming that since a pool is being collected during the year, that there would be no additional entry fee for the classic? Maybe, just have a separate lunker pool for the non-qualifying teams? Just a thought, that way nobody gets left out.
