Its nice to see some new team names up there.

Yes and no.

Some of the "Regulars" got shut out and that happens when you get popular and they were simply beat to the punch. Permits are specific in most cases on numbers allowed to fish. As long as people are serious and don't drop out at the last minute or worse, just not show up! Thus preventing another team who really wanted to fish, the opportunity to do so.

Im with you Rog. Id be lying to say it didnt bother me to see a few teams there that are not regular contributor to the community. Nothing against the folks of those teams of course Id just like to see them a bit more active here if they are going to be active for tournaments.

Ken - I have debated that to my self but I cant say one way or the other. Everything you have done for the tournaments and the community is greatly appreciated and you deserve to be in there. However moving forward we have tournaments that are marked as a 10 boat limit and I am sure there will be occasions where my self or other board regulars are shut out of the tournaments but are we going to open those up as well?

I don't care about those.I just wanted to fish the first one. There are too many 10 and 12 boat limits.I may just bow out of the car toppers.I'll see you guys Sunday. If I'm fishing or not.

http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/pab/fba_parking.htm

the list above is what determines what events have how many participants based on time of year. When JOHNNY, I Rich and Ken sat down and had dinner to discuss all this I was told that the permit numbers run off how many are allowed based on venue.

With that said, I asked for the Maximum amount possible for each event and received the permits back stamped and signed with the amount that fish and game approved, some of the permits came back with less spots than request, again based on the above linked page.

Places like Big Sandy, Billington, Upper Mystic etc are NOT fish and game monitored bodies of water therefore their limits are set by the governing towns, when WE ) ( four above mentioned people) met for dinner WE discussed reasonable numbers of boats on each of these NON Fish and Game Run Waters, to avoid the "4 GUYS ON A ROCK PILE ARGUMENT/INCIDENT at Monponsett last year.

2 hours before I posted this event I had 7 or so text messages asking if " I could add them in because they wouldnt/couldnt be in front of a computer, how would it have felt if when i posted it there were only 7 spots to fight for because I felt bad for those 7 who could be near a computer????

I'm not gonna go in circles debating this, as it is already we are going to be talking about this ALL YEAR 50% say Yes 50% say no, who is right who is wrong.

IT IS NOT ABOUT WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED WHAT IT IS ABOUT WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE GOOSE IS GOOD FOR THE GANDER. I am by no means the final word in this I dont own the site Im not the sole regualtion maker, Im the guy who did the work to get the job done. I'll see you all sunday, let me know if I need to bring my fighting gear, Ill try to find room in the truck for it along with the 1000 other things Im bringing

Don't get you panties all in a bunch now.It is what it is.I just thought some senior partners could get a little consideration.I guess not.I used to be able to send a text to the poster and be in.But that was then this is now.Take your ball and run with it.

Posted Tue Apr 02, 2013 3:40 pm

Ken please stop taking this personal ,I just called u by the way its not my ball and I NEVER RUN to preserve our friendship which means much much much more than this trail does I will gladly hand over all the permits to you and take my chances signing up everyweek like everyone else if that's what it takes to not ruin the friendship we have. If you can see past this issue I will continue to do as WE previously planned

Posted Tue Apr 02, 2013 3:54 pm

Not taking anything personal. It's all good.Just trying to weigh the options. If it doesn't work then it doesn't.All I can do is try.

Posted Tue Apr 02, 2013 4:05 pm

If anybody needs help understanding how and why we run these tournaments the way we do please call me 781-856-0636 if you can't get into a tournament you have to try the next one.
Period. There should not be any more discussion on why we can't do this or why we should do that it is what it is and that's it

Posted Tue Apr 02, 2013 4:13 pm

And we ask those that did not make the sign up.... please don't come and fish the same pond on the same day we are there. That's just wrong.

This post is not to be antagonistic or ball busting just an observation and an opinion.

The expansion of this great site and group is of course good and bad. As guys having fun with the group tell a bud the bud logs in and joins a tourney or two. He or she never posts never contributes but takes a spot of some one that does. Tough call but it is the nature of the beast.

The idea of two divisions if this season proves to have the numbers needed to do it could be a good call. Or maybe a Saturday circuit (works for me lol as I work Sundays and make very few Ts because of it.)?

To me when this set up was discussed and designed for this season I was all for it. Sounded good, like rules and requirements. The one thing I did not agree to and it appears to have been adjusted or fixed was that Startos, Sinista and Kenny all get auto spots. I completely appreciate all the hard work that that crew did, does and continues to do. But seeing the increased interest in this I thought, sorry to say, it should be an even playing field for all ie EVERYONE has an equal chance to sign in. SO no preference given to your place in the hierarchy.

That seems indeed to be the design now and I applaud it.

Hope every one has a safe fun Tourney come Sunday and look forward to the results and hope to get in on one or two of them as the Season moves on.

no good way to do it to make everyone 100% happy unless you fish the same big bodies of water all the time. a lot of places aren't big enough or have enough parking. it is what it is and i hope everyone gets a chance to fish some tournaments that wants to this year. good luck this weekend. neil, catch a pickerel for me.

Kenny Rich and I don't all get auto ins only the one posting the event the other two fend for themselves.

So to everyone, I am really at a crossroads here for a few reasons
1) what started as can we open it to 16, or 17 has grown to can we open it to 21 as of the last text message I have recieved.
2) IF and I stress IF WE were to do this how can I be assured I did what was in the best interest of us all, and how can WE be sure that this ONE TIME MEANS ONE TIME?
3) How do I deal with feeling as though there will be those who say I did this out of favoritism for certain individuals
4) How do I explain to the town official if he shows up ( don't suspect he won't he has shown up there before) that we went 5 over what your permitted allowed so we didn't hurt anyone's feelings? Speaking to Johhny he made a great point when he said " Neil its your name on the permit, you are the one who will have to answer to what ever arises as a result of this"

So in closing I NEED you ALL to understand that there are so many variables that go into this and what Sam said hits the nail on the head, you can't please everyone 100% of the time

My ( they only my I will use) decision after speaking with and gathering information from posts and text messages from a dozen or so people is to leave it at 15.

Here is your turn, without bringing up any other issues, or referencing any other events or past years , tell me how this can work with ZERO repercussions and how we will ensure that the next small event won't bring about the same requests

I have no issues opening it up and hate to see guys locked out. That being said, if you do, it will certainly be used against you at future events. Guys will always get locked out and want the same in return.

No easy answer. Good luck Neil.

Wow thanks a lot bud! Lmfao seriously tho I up the nashua without a paddle on this one

Don't beat yourself up Neil.

To keep the integrity of the rules, keep it at 15. People didn't get in now and won't get in on future events. You gotta sign up when it goes up. If you don't, then better luck next time. I was surprised to see Kenny and some others didn't get in, but it is what it is. There is plenty of other lakes and ponds to fish if you're not in a tourney.

I am also glad to see there are not 3 automatic spots each week, I was a little worried (especially on tourneys limited to 10 boats) about that. Only the guy posting naturally is guaranteed. Not sure how you guys divided those up amongst you 3, but I assume it is even or as even as it can get.

Sorry Ken, I love you bro, but I am sure someone will drop out. They almost always do. I'll see who I see out on the water Sunday and good job Neil and all of you guys who set everything up!

As the regulars know I typically fish solo (or sometimes with my son). I know he's not going this week, so will welcome a partner given the demand for this 1st event. Send me a PM.

I may hit you in the head a few times with a crankbaits given the way I cast, so wear a hat!
