one of those options meant you couldn't do something. i forget what was it was though. i'd still give damon a call so he can give you his opinion on everything.

The autopilot and ipilot cancel out the foot pedal but copilot works together with it. I checked and doublechecked. I still may end up just being cheap and get the basic motor.

Do the new autopilot models come without the pedal. I have a version one with autopilot and pedal. And the one the v2 powerdrives with ap have the pedal. And i need to check out what this ipilot is. I heard about it but forgot what it does.

I think the ones with autopilot still come with the pedal and ipilot only comes with the remote. Ipilot uses gps so you can record a track, follow a shoreline or spot lock (hold yourself in place) Ipilot is also too expensive for me I think

is it legit to rent a quabbin boat but bring your motor and finder? anyways, you can always add the auto pilot later on. there's a whole bunch of versions on the minn kota site. i picked the bare bones 50 lb. thrust since it already cost an arm and a leg.

Sam, I always take my finder and TM when I rent a boat there. We will go. I only went twice last year mostly because the guys I fish with couldn't go or bailed and I didn't want to pay for everything myself.

You are NOT allowed to bring your own motor and put it on a Quabbin rental boat. I am surprised that you have been able to do so with a trolling motor and suspect you got away with it only because they didn't see you. I believe the same goes for anything that could come in contact with the water such as transducers, downrigger balls, anchors, etc. In theory, you could fish at Laurel Lake in Lee, where they have found Zebra Mussels and get them ( or some other invasive species) on your trolling motor, anchor, transducer or anything that came in contact with the water and then go to Quabbin and accidentally introduce them there. If you have any questions you can call the Visitor Center at 413-323-7221 and they can help you out.

I'm surprised they mention that anchors are allowed. When I first went to have my boat washed and sealed they made me take out everything that could have come in contact with the water out of the boat and they washed it with hot water. That included my anchor, nets downrigger balls, etc., etc.

After posting that I did read down and see that it says private motors must have a seal and I suppose that could mean trolling motor but I've been bringing mine for years, have seen others bringing theirs for years and have seen DCR workers on the dock while loading and unloading my rental boats.

When they first started this program I asked the biologist who was at the washing site how many boats he had washed so far and he replied "700". I then asked how many Zebra Mussels he had found and he replied "Zero". Still, you have to be careful because there are people out there that would like nothing better than to shut down all fishing at Quabbin, given an excuse.

I hear that. I love that place and would never intentionally do anything to harm it. I believe that wash program is a waste. I always clean the motor and transducer before I go there. I've even gone as far as taking off the prop. Now I can't wait for April.

I love it so much that I bought another boat last year, just for Quabbin.

Also, I'm not sure if it is widely known but they have a cold weather boat seal program where you can bring your boat to the headquarters area at the dam and they will seal it for no cost. They do this by appointment during some of the winter months. The theory being that any invasive species that may have been on your boat will die over the winter. I took both my boats in and had them sealed last month. I will use the bigger one until June or so and then break the seal to use that boat in other waters and have the smaller one to use at Quabbin all year.
If you don't use the cold weather boat seal program you have to drive all the way to Orange Ma and have it washed there. Last time I checked it was $40.00 to do so and they were the only authorized facility to do it.
