does anybody know of a paint to paint jig heads something not too strong in odor because dragging them across the bottom is exposing metal

Try the CS Coatings Pro-Tec Powder Paint, I really like this stuff for coloring my jigheads. not much of a scent to it at all either. its on tacklewarehouse.com

Thanks i just feel that I'm getting less bites with the metal showing but i could just be crazy also i was thinking about trying fingernail polish but too much odor

I've used fingernail polish. It's ok. I've also used sharpies. Much easier.

it's just that with the sharpies it rubbed off so easy also do you feel that with the smell from the fingernail polish that you got less hits

Most of the time I do nothing at all. The paint is scraping off from the rocks. It's not a part of the bait the fish really sees. I don't think nail polish cost me hits. I've only used it a couple of times.

yeah I was under the impression that it didn't really show much because it's on the bottom while being dragged thanks for your input and help fellas

The powder coat works great but you have to watch your weed guard so that it doesn't melt. I have used nail polish many times after it drys I will put the jigs in a baggie and spray some sent on them works good

yeah I will probably try the nail polish with the scent then because that sounds a lot cheaper Dollar Tree $1 for the Polish already have scent yeah I'm going fishing in the morning so I definitely want to try something tonight

to be honest, I wouldnt even bother with paint... the color of the jig head (especially the underside of it) from my experience doesnt matter. I have tossed a completely paintless jig head and caught fish. Fish dont seem to care about color (of jig head), fishermen do haha

yeah I tend to believe you man I just caught a three pounder the way it was

Nail polish works well, never thought it smelled after it dried?
Sharpies to for emg while out fishing.

I tried sharpies they washed off pretty quick bought a black nail polish going to try it for tomorrow

I think nail polish should work. You could even make a garlic scent mixture but I don't think you have to worry about the scent.

Fish seem to relate more to contrasting colors, yellow-blue, green-pink, etc.
Re-painting to regain contrast that attracts fish makes sense to me.
Most tackle shops have jig head paints, powders and/or dips, etc specifically designed for this.
