Here is a link for a youtube video of me catching a Northern Pike yesterday (09/06/10) on the Concord River.

I caught 5 of these total, but I only captured 1 on video.

Thats terrific you got 5! Cool vid, and had you opened your bail I bet the dismount would have gone much smoother.
So where did you end up catching it (if you dont mind saying)? Did you launch at the 225 launch?

Man I wish I had my own boat Exclamation
I hope to get a Pike this fall whether its from shore or a boat it will be my goal to get one.

Yup, I launched at route 225 on the Bedford/Carlisle line. Then I went south towards Concord, and most of the Northern Pike were caught where the river starts to get considerably narrower. We would occasionally see/hear one of these pike jump out of the water... the sound of them was like a sea lion jumping out of the water. There are some big fish in there!!! Nothing that I caught was gigantic, but decent size. I'd like to catch a monster out of there someday.

Excellent thanks! I hit up the area near that launch today and did fantastic. I also saw HUGE fish jumping, I think both largemouth and pike. My post below this one will include all the details from my excursion today.

the bass club i'm in was fishing a tournament here in mid june. my boater pulled in a 4+ lb. pickerel and northern (definitely not targeting them). one was with a frog and the other a senko type worm. there are some huge ones in there for sure.

I stopped by the river at about 4pm and it was very choppy. I started out on my secondary rod with a 10 inch Berkeley Power Worm (a dark color) with no steel leader. Before I knew it I got a real nice strike no more than 3 feet from shore. And there it was, my first Northern Pike Smile

I couldn't believe it, my first Northern Pike ever. It was about 1.5 feet long but I didn't bother weighing because I knew it wasn't anything crazy just by holding it.

I was happy that the fish bite the worm in the spot it did because it didnt have a chance to butcher the 8 lb mono I have on that rod. After that catch I set up my rod primary rod (braid on this setup) with a steel leader, and then hooked the same style 10 inch worm on. No more than 20 minutes later another slam. once again no more than 3 feet from shore. another pike:

Next was the catch of the day for me. Still had the steel leader on, still had the berkeley 10 inch power worm on. Yet again about 3 feet from shore a monster emerges! major strike and I pull it right outta the water. This time it was a largemouth bass, a really big one! I take out the hook out and bring the fish over to my scale. I then hung the fish from my scale... 4.5 lbs! I think to myself wow this is one calm fish, usually smaller ones try to jump off the scale, not this fish. I knew I wanted to get as good of a picture as I could get considering I was by myself. The fish was covered in pollen so I proceeded to give him some "air" by streaming him through the water and at the same time prep him for his big photo debut. Well as soon as I pulled him through the water he exploded, I fell in the water a little bit and swiftly felt him swim away through my loose fingers. So bottom line is no picture of this guy. So as I am disappointed I didnt get a pic I feel like the weighing made up for it because I can officially saw that this is the heaviest largemouth bass I have ever caught.

So all in all this has to be one of my best days fishing ever. I caught the biggest largemouth bass I have ever caught and caught my very first pike!

That is awesome towelie. I am wicked happy for you (except for the fact I wish I was there)! Don't worry about the bass, I know you will get one even bigger that we'll get a nice pic of.

Thanks bassmonkey, yeah its going to be my mission to break 5 lbs this fall (and get a picture in addition to a weight lol) and I have a real good feeling its going to be on the Concord River. We'll get out there soon, hopefully later this week, but if not then def next week.

Went back to the Concord River today for a few hours this afternoon. Things were a little slow, some minor bites, nothing like the explosion strikes from Tuesday though. I landed a 1 lb Largemouth about an hour after arriving. I took a picture of it and posted it in my picture collection here but wont bother posting it in this thread. I've been a little bunked that I didnt get that picture of the 4.5 pounder two days ago from the Concord, easily the biggest bass I ever caught. Oh well I'll get over it eventually.

Thanks bam! I told myself that next time I catch anything over 3 lbs I dont care how much weeds, pollen, or sand there is on it, Ill take a pic before I bring it back anywhere near the water. I am glad that I got an "official" weight on it though, because I ballparked the fish at like 6 or 7 pounds before I weighed it, haha.

Yeah I am really looking forward to fall fishing. I went today (to a Middleton lake) and got myself a 2.5 lb'r along with 2 little guys.
