Beaver brook is about 100 feet from my front door. My daughter and I can snag about a dozen fallfish an hour (12"18") any time we fish there.

A few people have mentioned I could or should try using these as bait.

So my question to all of you is, how would I use them as live bait, and while fishing for what?

And if I used them for cut bait, what would they be good for?

you can use live bait for pike and muskie since they totally loved them like as "fat kid is search for candy."

If you plan to use cut bait, you are likely to get catfish to bite your hook.

Would they be too big (at 12 inches or so) to use for rainbows on the Merrimac?

Yeah, probably. But anything is possible. You will never know until you tried.

I am personally like anything less 6 inches for trouts. But Lake trout is entire different story.
