If i need to retie I just slide them up the line, cut off what needs to be cut off, tie on the hook again and slide the stopper back down. I have even left it on my line when I have switched over to things like a jig, buzzbait, swimbait or spinnerbait

they're good for smaller lines and weights but don't work that well if you're going with something like 1/2 oz weights or bigger.
