aluminum boat with electric motor?

I wanted to ask you, cartopper, and I plan to take aluminum boat with electric motor but it can be put top of truck. So, I was wondering if I have to register the boat to order to use it with electric motor?

In the new york, I know they required any electric or gas motor on any kind of boat has to be registered. even electric motor on the kayak.

So, let me know! because I am not in the mood to paddle from canoe or kayak in this temperature!
