This is 48 acre natural great pond is surprisingly deep, averaging 21 feet and having a maximum depth of 53 feet. The bottom consists of silt overlying gravel and rubble. Aquatic vegetation is scant and limited to a few scattered locations on the west end of the pond. The water is infertile and transparency is good, extending to 12 feet. The shorelines are heavily developed with seasonal and permanent homes. The pond is located about a half mile south of Route 8A/116 and is easily reached by taking Windsor Pond Road south from that route. Public access is limited to a surfaced ramp located on the east end of the pond right off the road. The attached parking lot can accommodate approximately 15 vehicles. The ramp is suitable for shallow to moderate draft trailer boats. Fish Populations: chain pickerel, rainbow trout, brook trout, brown bullhead, yellow perch, pumpkinseed, killifish, golden shiner and white sucker. The trout are the result of annual spring stockings. Broodstock salmon are also stocked here, and will continue to be stocked when they are available.
