Comment: The catchable brook and rainbow trout stocked each spring represent the principal fishery here, with heavy angling pressure lasting through May. Trout hold over through the summer, however, and trout fishing picks up again in the fall and winter. Yellow perch are numerous and display good growth rates, but large individuals are lacking. Pickerel are not particularly numerous, but there are some nice ones in the population. While few apparently attempt it (perhaps due to competition from skiing and recreational boaters), an angler willing to do a little scouting and experimentation could definitely tap into some good trout action in the middle of July or August. Go early, and try jigging various depths and locations until the fish are located. A small gold jig tipped with a piece of worm should be effective, and a streamer fly can be added as a dropper above the jig to improve the odds.
