i have been drunk here many many times as a minor while growing up in the area... used to be the afterdark bonfire and beer hangout. Ive also caught many fish from here, larry largemouth is haning out here all the time.
This pond offers excellent fishing for an assortment of warm water fish. Both largemouth bass and chain pickerel are numerous and of good size. Large bluegills, white perch and yellow perch provide good panfishing. Walker is popular spot for ice fishing.
Walker is an average size (104-acres) warm water pond located in Sturbridge just north of the Massachusetts Turnpike. The water is brown in color with a transparency of eight feet. The depth averages about seven and a half feet with a maximum of sixteen feet. The shoreline is 40% developed with summer and year round homes. Aquatic weeds are dense around most of the perimeter. Boat access is available on a gravel ramp off Walker Road at the north end of the pond. Shore access is available along the entire western shore in Wells State Park. Fish Species: The fish population was last studied during the 1980 summer survey. Ten species were collected: largemouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, white perch, bluegill, pumpkinseed, brown bullhead, white suckers, golden and bridled shiners. The most abundant game fish are chain pickerel and the most abundant panfish are yellow perch.
