Well we get the canoe rigged up and make our way to one of the many Plymouth Ponds. Longest ride to date with my new vehicle and rack set up. No issues other than tough to fit all the gear in the car when having a passenger in the car. We had tough time finding the entrance point and lost some time driving around looking for it. Should have studied the old Google Earth better lol. Well so much for two ponds this afternoon (not my fav thing to do any way) after it was a bit of a drag to get in.

Was hoping to grab a Smallie or two and did not want to go all the way down to my regular Fall Smallie spot so gave this a try after some im with Rich. The Smallies eluded us and after an hour only one pickle on a jerkbait I could see the little one beginning to loose interest. She messed around a bit and then I said since we have to keep moving and nothing is biting at your worm and bobber may be try a lure so you can practice casting and keeping busy. She gave it a go. First small spinnerbait then a small jighead with a soft minnow type bait.

We hit some good wood worked the slopes and drops water temps in the high 50s but nothing. Very clear very bowl like with little to no grass and even less noticeable cover. Did see lots of giant beds though and saw many cool targets for the future after we went over then lol.

Daughter says Dad I think if we don’t get a fish either at the big dock or the those bushes then we are not going to get anything. I nod and say wow I am impressed as I agreed those are the most bassy looking things I see as well. Dock was a no go but the bushes lol aka very green cattails showed some promise. I got a small bass on a j9 and as I cast I saw some fish spook. I quickly toss her worm and bobber over and she gets 10in bass. Cool! During the ruckus we drift and as I release the fish I see a wolf pack. Ok wow all small with few keepers or betters around. I back off easily and suggest my daughter try her lure. She says ok and after few bad casts lol she starts to get in the sweet spot. BAM her first fish on a lure! Cool! She is excited and I am Proud and excited lol. We keep at it and I managed 3 more and she went cold. I stop fishing and just keep the canoe in position then she says that hey I have one. I hear her little Zebco 11 humming and with its 4lb test. As I see her struggling to bring in her biggest bass to date! Left them biting as it was a haul to get off the water and loaded back up to try and get out of the area before dark.

She had a great grin and hope that maybe we sparked something.

Memories for a life time.
