Gets very weedy in the summer. If you take a boat out and fish along the weeds and other cover you can pull in some decent size (2-4lbs) bass.
Johnson Pond in Raynham was first stocked with catchable trout on a trial basis in spring 2009. In
addition to the stocked trout, anglers can expect to catch the usual assortment of warrnwater game fish
such as largemouth bass. Due to easy access and the adjacent town park it is often used as a fishing site
by children and their parents. Other nearby ponds include Kings Pond in Raynham, Lake Sabbatia in
Taunton, Winneconnet Pond in Norton and Lake Nippenicket in Bridgewater
Johnson Pond in Raynham is a 13 acre artificial impoundment of Tracey Brook which forms (along
with the outflow from Kings Pond) the headwaters of the Forge River, a tributary to the Taunton River.
The pond was used to supply water to a grist mill. It is located at the intersection of North Main Street
and Johnson Street near the town hall. The bottom of the pond, like most impoundments, is silt and the
deeper areas are found in the lower section of the pond. A town bylaw prohibits the feeding of geese and
waterfowl at the pond which had become a problem in the past. The pond is fed from swamps and
Gushee Pond which flows through Hewitts Pond and the former site of Tracey Pond just upstream
