Johns Pond Personal Best

hi guys. got down johns pond @ 9:30 to try my luck at some smallies (never targeted them before) I think i need lessons!! for 4 hrs I tried some hair jigs,spoonns. some 4" finess wormes.spinners all kinds of stuff at all depths from 6 ft to 30 ft. and i got zip. The sun was getting pretty high. So I decided to fish the shallows on the rocks using a kvd square bill. after a half dozzen casts my rod bent down. supprised after more then 4 hrs of nothing. I pulled up and my rod stayed right were it was (hanging over the side. the only thing i felt was the line streaching and the rod bending. then the drag started singing. I had only 6lb floro spooled on the reel so i knew i couldent tighten the drag any more. i thought i had my 1st, smallie. but after 1-2 min going back and fourth I got the fish to breach the surface and landed a 5 lb 4 oz larry for my P.B. I never did get a smallie today but the largemouth shure took the sting out of it for me. maybe next time???
