There is no ISO standard for rod specification. Someone's xfast is someone's fast. You need a relative stiff rod for that application. Think it like a light jig rod. Shakeyhead is a jig setup anyway.
Wanted opinions for shakey head set up. I usually use medium spinning with extra fast action but I snapped my rod. Recently i bought a medium w/ fast action and not sure if I should return it.
certain companies are generally have more or less power than the average. like powell is typically a little stiffer than the average and kistler is a lot wimpier than the average. check out tackle tour for some good information on several of different rods. they have rod deflection charts and test results etc.

I think it depends on what pound test line you're using. If I'm fishing clear water without a lot of cover I like a G. Loomis 721 spinning rod 6ft light action. In heavier cover I might switch to a medium action 722. The 721 is a little whippy at the tip, but with good backbone. It is very forgiving if you've got a big fish on. I try to stick with 6lb test as much as possible, and if you have a faster tip you'll brake off when you get a sudden headshake, or they see the net at the boat.
