I agree with you. I went to Boone after work a week ago today.
Started fishing around 4:40 pm. Caught one 3lber, a couple 2lbers,
and a few little ones. Missed one that jumped and spit out
my worm, it looked to be in the 3 pound or 4lb range. Other than that it was slow and tough bite. Last couple times I've been there for a day of fishing it was slow.

The place is getting pounded.

For years, many folks thought there was no public ramp. Well that all changed when the ramp GPS coordinates were posted multiple times on Maff.

Now there are boat trailers from Connecticut to New Hampshire parked at the ramp along with tourneys just about every weekend.

If you type it in on the google maps it brings you to the boat ramp so maff can't be 100% to blame

it's def. partially on MAFF. it never got pressure until all of the trips and info. came out of here over the past few years. you'd be amazed if you've followed all of this specifically on boone. one thing is...why would you even really specifically look into a place like boone unless you were from the immediate area. it's crazy.

now they have big tournaments there. and yes, they did weed kill. i will say that most of our fish were caught on a 100 yard stretch they seemed to be stacked up on.

That's also true when I signed up the first thing I saw was dad got a 10lber at boone

Anyone that enjoys fishing, especially those of us that fish for recreational purposes look for anything that may give us an edge. How many use Google/Bing maps to search for unknown fishing spots? Or have used a search engine regarding a particular fishing spot?

This is what happened to my favorite spot, Fosters Pond in Andover. The only people there for DECADES was maybe a hiker, and that was rare. Fisherman? Hardly saw any, and I used to go there a lot. Now? I don't go at all. I won't say it's over-fished (yet), but it's not fun anymore, especially due to the nature of some of the people that go there.

This is why I will no longer give locations. There are a few spots I go that currently isn't pressured and/or can't be found on Google, and are great for fishing (especially with my kids).

and anyone can look it up on google and take the time to scout an area but i think a lot of people won't go out of the way to do that, especially if it's an hour away. when you see the exact access point and hear that there are tons of big fish, it makes it a lot easier and takes all guess work and leg work out of it.

these types of sites can provide the exact details you need that a map and street view won't provide. it just makes things easier that would otherwise sometimes prevent someone from taking the risk of trying to get into that place.

example: the pond that you mention...if i lived in the immediate area, yeah i would drive by and check it out and do some google maps. but after seeing details on here, i'm more inclined to go since i know it's good and know exactly where to launch and park without risk.

Fully agree i had never even heard of Boone until i was on this site. But you cant blame a fisherman for trying to share and help out another fisherman. I get both sides of it.

it's a blessing and a curse. sharing information doesn't mean blowing a spot up. a lot of people probably don't even realize that's what's happening when they do it. or look at things in the long run and realize how it can hurt a fishery. giving out very specific details can easily be done over PM.
