I would add I have spent a TON of time over the years observing fish at the Chu and Quabbin. They are not territory bass. They have picked up roaming trends and I think they swim a lot during a daily cycle. Focus on areas where travel gets restricted or channeled and that where the fish will be.

don't know much about Quabbin.  This year is my first time visit in more than 10 years.  You are absolutely right about Chu.  I think it is about 4 hours cycling time. Sometimes, in rare circumstance, they gang together in one area. Last year, I caught 36 of them(18 each) in two consercutive day. That's my best in numbers in years of fishing there. Normally, catching 5 smallie is not a bad day.
