As I am sitting here writing this I was wondering what is the smallest fish that anyone has landed through the ice? With that being said, I purposely omitted the term "hooked". I have had a few that would qualify, namely a Northern fingerling that was NOT 3 inches long. Very aggresive for it's size, it went after a 10 inch auger blade, but after a picture I released it and it swam off. That was two years ago, probably not a keeper yet, but...

That's unreal...some fish have big ego's for their size and that little guy in your picture is at the top of the list. A cocky youth in a big body of water lol! I've seen someone catch a bass under 4 inches in open water on a crankbait...but nothing nearly that small through the ice, probably because the shiners I use are usually between 3-6 inches.

Cool Post!
