thanx, muskie. decided to stay local. checked out creative taxidermy In Haverhill. he does excellent work. he had several fish in the process and several completed jobs. the guy pays close attn. to detail, unlike some others that I have seen.

Black Bear Bait & Tackle in Dracut has a guy that does the best work I've seen.

What's the pricing like these days for this type of thing?

Jessekayboston - price is various at today. Normal price would be ten bucks per inch on any fish that you wanted to mount. any higher, is ripoff unless they are awesome/high demand taxidermy. then you are good. lol

If you could find any cheaper that that price with excellent paintjob or skin mount. then you should considered to go that place.

There were a few places around when I was a kid. This Dracut place is the only place I've heard of in the past 10 years!

I checked out a few places. I pretty much decided against a fiberglass mount as it really loses something with an imitation. cheapest guy I found was $13/inch. he had no mouts to show nor any photos of his works. local bait shop has a few of his stuff. see photos of it, bit not impressed. checked out another guy.$14/$15 per inch. he had nothing recent in the line of fish. had mostly animal mounts. no photos. nothing in the works. tried for a week to contact another guy - never called me back. visited another guy. excellent work. charges $17/inch. had fish in the drying stage. had one that he was painting. several on display. great detail.
guess who I went to...
