Fluorocarbon Fishing Line over Braided , I'm about to clean my baitcast reel and change my old line witch is Red Braided Line and was thinking of going Fluorocarbon.
I like to use a lot of wake baits ,top lures and frog's of many types and did not think Fluorocarbon Fishing Line would do any good ? Any thing good or better than PowerPro Braided? I do have 2x 3/4oz wake bait that I like to use ever now and then , I've caught many 1lb's and over with them surprise me by the size of the lures.

for the list of baits you like to throw Braid would be a better choice because fluoro sinks and you mentioned mostly topwaters and frogs and stuff that seem to run in the upper part of the water column

Fluoro sinks like a rock

We use 50lb Flouro for the Pike at the Boag, good luck casting that stuff, it's a trick to tie also..

Braid is much easier to work with all the way around. When I want the abrasion resistance of fluorocarbon I throw on a 3' leader. I will never spool a reel with fluoro again.

Fluoro has some pretty bad reel memory as well.

for topwater, you are best off sticking with mono or braid. fluoro sinks like people said and b/c of it, another negative is that it will tend to get hung up on the hooks with walking baits.

Well I have been using the Cajun Red Lightnin'® Monofilament Line 10lb for years on my Zebco Reel and never lost a fish ,so I will just stick with them but they have a new line with some sort of polymer coating that I will try new{they also have the como color} For my baitcaster I also have used the PowerPro® Braided Spectra® Fiber Micro Filament Line 50lb red color and never had any fish lost or lures. I now Braid lines comes in many colors but does it rely make a differences, On my 50lb red line I caught bass and pickerels in every cover in ponds and lakes. I will be using the 40lb this year for no reason and probably in red color also.

This is another question if some can answer , my son want's a baitcaster set-up and I taught that there is a set-up that controls the backlash for first time users and I can't think of the name of it {it controls the cast before and after the cast }

I've tried every braid on the market, and my personal favorite is stren sonic braid. it has a glide coat on the line that makes it fly through the eyelets and it retains it's color longer than all the other brands I've tried.
the color on power pro bleaches away too quickly for me, same for suffix. berkley braid is too stiff, grand slam isn't dark enough for my liking

I recently bought some sonic braid and like it. Your defiantly right about the color. I've been fishing my braid just about 2 months and the green still hasn't faded! Only downside i find is the sonic will dig into the spool after catching a decent size fish outta heavy cover. Alot of other brands of braid do that anyways.
