So I got line in my prop had to take it off to get it out didn't disconnect anything but the prop now I have to reverse the leads to get it to work right [/b]
I think what you are doing wrong is connecting the positives and negatives backwards like opposite to how you're supposed to have it to the battery. It has happened before to me when I havent been paying attention and I just connect the trolling motor wires to the battery. Try switching them up. The + side of the battery needs to have the black and red..... the - side of the battery just straight black.
No offence taken. But I deal with electricity alot being a HVAC tech I'm not a idiot I'm saying I connecting red to positive and black to negative and the prop spins 3 speeds in the forward direction and five in reverse but if I reverse the leads it operates at normally five forward 3 reverse I was wondering if anyone had the same problem and if I could have done something while removing fishing line
No none taken I don't deal with electricity and don't have a career pertaining to it but I have had a trolling motor for years and I still make the mistake like an idiot but it happens and I will admit it haha and not knowing your background I just threw it out there was all. I don't really have any clue as to how taking line outta the prop would screw it up that badly... I get weeds caught in it from time to time, line as well and haven't had a single problem sorry man. What kind do you have?
Something like that happened to my buddy when his motor fell in the water. He had to take the guts out of the lower unit and and he put it back in upside down or something. He had to take it back out and switch it. Maybe the line on the propshaft spun the internal components around in the case
Did you spin the propeller a lot when removing the line? Could you have reversed the polarity of the motor? If you spin the motor in the other direction and the turn on the switch, will it repair itself? Just askin' a stupid question...
