I have an Okuma guide select 7'11 with a telescopic handle. It's got some really good reviews. I didn't throw swim baits a whole lot last year but the rod handled the 7 inch slammers with no problem. I think they're going for $120. I got mine on amazon last year for 99.
Check out this review. I have the MH rod and it handles the 7 inch slammers no problem. I don't have any huds so I can't say for sure.

Okuma bigbait 7'11" Heavy would be your best bet if you plan on throwing the 6" huds and 7" slammers most of the time. Check out the 3:16 Rising son as well. It would handle 9" slammers fine but a 5 oz. 8" HUD would be pushing its limits.
7'11" XH would be best if you were throwing 9" slammers, 8" huds, and other big baits the majority of the time.

I totally agree with Joe. I have the 7'11 MH and that handles the 7 inch slammers just fine but doubt I could go any bigger but I like the idea of using it with lipless cranks and I also plan on using it with the KVD xd 10. I'm going to have to get good at tying that uni to uni knot.
when I tie braid to mono backing I use a uni to uni. That's the only knot I know how to tie two lines together with but I'll check out the albright.
I just checked out a tutorial on how to tie and albright knot. Looks pretty easy. I'll give it a try. I never used leaders before but I plan on using my swimbait rod to throw other baits and was unsure about tying cranks directly to the braid
