My old motorguide servo positioning trolling motor is on it's last leg. It' sall electric and yesterday it had some itermittent problems. Called motorguide and of course, they dont make parts or service it anymore. I am thinking on going new but could use some guidance. what is a good model to buy? What is smooth to steer? 12 volt, 50 lbs of thrust, long shaft, is what I have..yea I said shaft.

Being a Motorgiude owner first thing I can tell you is Ill never buy one again, I have a 48 lb thrust bow mount motorguide pro series, in a cartopper event I was passed by two guys in a canoe, very sad..not to mention it does not preform well in vegitation Im not sure if you are talking transom or bow mount , whether you constantly travle thru thick vegitation when you fish or not, but I would recommend you buy a Minn Koto regardless of what you do
