Just starting out I would keep it simple. The best advice I can give you if your starting to throw crankbaits is get a lure retriever. You need to have confidence to throw it into cover. Square bills deflect of objects better, but with two exposed treble hooks you will get snagged. Be prepared to lose baits! So I wouldn't start out with anything expensive. The KVD are good baits for the money. Their Red Eye lipless crankbait is a must have.
