I coulden't belive it, but i manage to pull in more then a dozen bass today... i ended up loosing track towards the end. I was using softbait and a suspending jerkbait. More than half my hits were no more than 2-15 seconds after my bait hit the water... I was fishing the shallows of a pond that gets deeper than 20ft.Some of the bass were in less than 2ft of water! Overally i was extremely happy although i never pulled anything over 3lbs, but it sure was a great day!!
I live and plymouth and mostly fish plymouth for there is tons of ponds and lakes. But i have been fishing a small pond just down the street latley.... its easy to find a fish so its perfect for the winter. It gets pretty damn deep for the size of the pond...over 25ft. I honestly have no clue what the water temp is, but i feel that its warmer then most of the other ponds around me. But the pond is pretty small so it probley why the bites better. Big enough to hold some decent fish, but you wont be pulling out 5-7lbs bass too often. Overally its a perfect pond for some quick easy fishing for the "off season".........But i cant say anything for big ponds and lakes for i never botherd going out with crazy winds etc.. and i dont have any electronics so finding bass in the winter on a big lake is a nightmare.I'm curious as to what part of the state you are fishing, and the water temperature. I live on the Cape, the water temperature is about 45 in most of the ponds, up from 38, the coldest it's been (surface temp). I have found that the largemouth in shallow ponds ( where the maximum depth is around 12 ft) have all been caught around wood or grass in less than 6 ft. Sunny days have really been pushing them shallow. Still haven't had a day like you have- can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!
