Going down the cape largemouth fishing anyone have any suggestions

Went to NH this past Wednesday. Caught six fish. 5 Largemouth's 1 2lb Smallmouth. Got one Largemouth 3bler and last fish of the day was a 4bler. Tossed my Senko purple 4" worm next to a submerged log, and a couple twitches it was on. Scale said 4.0.

Caught a 3lb 44oz bass with a old V&M Frog water melon color last week.

My catch has really declined since summer ended. This is my first season fishing after barely touching a rod for several decades so I'm still learning a lot of new techniques but I was catching at least a few most times out, but the past four times I've gotten skunked.

Any ideas on best baits to use this time of year and how to fish them?

I did catch my PB so far on Sept 27 on a senko worm, but since then, nothing.

I thought the bass were feeding heavier now to fatten up for winter.

I agree with that. Fishing for me has gotten a lot slower, but with higher quality. With winter approaching, the bass are trying to feed more, and for me this results in typically fatter fish than in early summer. I had the best luck using bigger lures and a slower retrieve. That's just me, though. Use whatever is comfortable, and if it works, it works.

This time of the year fish should be getting aggressive and will chase baits. Try spinnerbaits, chatterbait, crankbait, rattletrap and original Rapalas. As the water gets colder it will be time to slow things down.

i did good during the storm 2 weeks ago. only fished for an hour in one area of the pond. found fish schooled up and pulled 5 bass out of the same spot. biggest was 3.5 lbser

same pond same area last week. i lost a large fish. it peeled line into a tree and made a good wake to. ended up getting a nice rainbow trout and a few sunnies

only fished one lure both days.

I'm doing well lately but haven't fish past this week yet. Few 3-4lbs. I'm strictly stick to glider lure. Senko will work well. But senko is just number on bass. While glider lure give me bigger bass. Two weeks ago, I pulled four smallmouth over 5lbs. Big one top at 5.7lbs. Along with two 5lbs Larry and big one is 5.5lbs.

- 5.5 Larry was caught on popper.
- 5.7 smallie was caught on glider
- 5.1 Larry was caught on frogging
- rest of three 5lbs smallie soldiers was caught on tube
- Rest of dinks bass are caught on everything.

In other hand, other species are hitting well too. Handful of bull sunfish but nothing beat my pb at 1.4lb. Perch are freakish huge right now. Averaged at 12-14inch. Cats are biting well but nothing that is worthy mention. Walleye are biting well too.

Will be stopped fishing for anything except focus on trouts now. With exceptions of few bass fishing outings for giants!

Good lord! 4 smallies over 5lbs is amazing. Were you fishing from shore?

Yes, everything is on shore except two smallies isn't from shore fishing.

I hit a 5lb14oz from the boat this past weekend. Really weedy pond but found a clearing that dropped to about 10/15feet and used Pumpkin worm wacky style against the edges of the drop.

Was out from 8am-3:40pm and that was my only hit. (not complaining it's my new PB)
They seem to be slowing down in quantity, but quality is going up. Heading out this weekend to see if I can nab another Big'n before things get to cold.
