Hello,

Thank you for the suggestion about trying the Sudbury Reservoir.
Not too far from where I am in Sudbury, so will definitely try this Spring (assuming it ever comes).

Questions, please: I downloaded the .pdf map from

http://www.mass.gov/eea/docs/dcr/watersupply/watershed/maps/sudburyaccessmap.pdf

and I see that there are only three parking spaces in effect, with a bunch more "proposed".

One is off of Rt 85 (Acre Bridge Rd.) to the North; seems to be for the main reservoir.
And a second is also off of Rt. 85, close to Rt. 9, the Southern end.
Seems to be for a small inlet there.

There is also a third off of Parmenter Rd. at the NE end.
Seems to be a "long" walk-in, though.

Have no idea if any of the other "proposed" parking areas exist now, or not ?

So, for my first time here, where would be the best place for me to initially try ?

And, any suggestions as to the best place for me to park would also be much appreciated.

I am somewhat limited as to far I can hike these days, but can do a relatively short, "reasonable" amount.

BTW: what species are to be found here ? What lures work; plastic worms, or...?

Thanks for the help and suggestions; nice of you folks to help me out.

Regards and thanks,
Bob

Ive only ever gone to Parmenter, its not that bad a walk. We just parked on the side of the road.

There are a few guys that frequent that area a lot more like BadLarry and Muskie. Im sure they will chime in when they see your post.

There r many spots to park and none r far walks to water.911 field n marlboro is a good spot. I can't describe all the spots but most not listed u just have to drive around n find spots that u can pull over. Other than parking in front of gates u can park at most places that have room to park off the road. Many spots made by other vehicles. It is a great fishery. With big larrys n the occasional smallie. My fav spot. Message me in spring n I can show u some Spots. Don't want to blow all them up on here though most are commonly used. Same rules as the chu so have to wait til all ice is gone So could be awhile lol.

Plastics work great. When I first started fishing here used senkos exclusively n killed it. Ratl traps and even spooks. Almost no weeds except under water grass. Yellow perch, white perch. Big pickerel, largemouth, smallmouth, rockbass. Anything u use for bass will work here. Spinners also work well. Some pads can be found but few n far between. More rocky n mud bottom then anything else.
