How late can largemouth bass be caught in the fall? What other types of species make for good targets during the cooler fall weather? At what point does the fishing slow down completely unless you want to ice fish? I am an inexperienced angler who recently discovered Senkos and have been really doing well, so now I am addicted and don't want to stop! I was just wondering how many good weeks I have left for largemouth fishing. Also would love to go get some smallmouth as I hear they are excellent fighters.

the colder the water the slower you need to fish! cold water jigs dropshot and jerkbaits are the way to go!

The 3 biggest bass I've ever caught were all through the ice, with the biggest being just shy of 7lbs. You can catch largemouth anytime of the year, you just need to be able to adapt to the changing environment and water conditions.
As the water cools down and the seasons change over bass begin to fatten up for winter. The big girls start looking for meals that offer a higher calorie potential to energy exertion ration (bigger lures/baits). They also move from their deep cool-water haunts to more shallow locations (although that's a generalization and not a strict rule).

i havent caught any that large threw the ice! the biggest was 4.15lbs
but ive hooked and lost a few really nice ones!! my biggest come in early spring just after ice out!
Come hit the ice with me sometime! I seem to have better luck on hard water then I do out in the boat haha
But really that's what I love about ice fishing. Use huge minnows and cross your fingers. The big ones still need to eat and there's always the chance of a truly massive pickerel or even a pike (if you're on the right lake)
