For my annual Saco River trip. If you haven't been it a fantastic take.
Put in behind the Fryeburg, me Fair grounds. Fishing the River for, Smallies , River Shiners, Trout and Larry's. Dozen or so miles down the river is Pleasant Pond. Awesome fishing for LM,SM, Black Bass and some of the biggest pickerel I have ever seen. If you have your own boat and camping supplies, You can do this trip fairly cheap. Camp on the river(free). Only thing you have to spend money on is food, gas, license, parking, milfoil sticker for boat and of course BEER!
150-200 bucks.. Not bad for 5 days of fishing. I take this trip twice a year. July and Sept. If any of you want more details let me know. I will post it in trips or here on the forum..

That may be interesting. I've never been camping but do have everything necessary. I have a kayak and would certainly bring it.plus I've never been there

Want to do this exact trip in September will the 'river traffic,' have died down?

How is the fishing? Has it worsened due to the amount of people or is it worth the trip?

There is a bit of traffic in July. We usually camp right where we put in the first night. The next day your on the river for about 7-8 hours. Its like spring break when you go past the camp grounds. After that it pretty much fishing all the way to the pond. The fishing is ok on the river otw there ,but the pond is Awesome. We camp on the pond for 3 days and move out on the 4th. Its another 4 hours down the river to where we get out rt 5 bridge.. The fishing on the river otw out is very good.
In Sept we put in at the 302 bridge. It only takes about an hour to get to the pond from there. Its 3 days of fishing and 4 hours down the river otw back. Pretty much eat, drink, fish Friday to Tuesday. Best thing is, you can do it when ever you want. River is open all summer..
