I'm sorry but I have to get this off my chest. I am so sick and tired of seeing trash left behind by thoughtless fisherman. Drink containers, bags from soft plastics, cigarette packs and butts, worm containers, Dunkin Donuts crap, it seems that any place I visit that has shore access shows the leftovers of some goon's fishing trip. I could fill a freaking trash bag at some places, but then I'd get no fishing done.

Please folks, show some respect for your/our environment. Wherever you fish, make it a point to leave it cleaner than when you arrived. Look around after you pack up to make sure you have picked up after yourself. Carry a small plastic trash bag with you to take out other trash you may come across.

Rant over.

I second that thought, wholeheartedly!!! i bring a small plastic supermarket bag evrytrip n before i leave i clean up 1 bags worth of trash(makes no difference but makes me feel better)

You can't fix ignorance Exclamation It's a problem that will never end. I clean up a boat ramp at a pond that I fish and a week later it is a mess again! I tell myself that I am all done cleaning up after people, but I can't stand to look at it every time I go there. Rolling Eyes

i try to keep the places i fish as clean as i can. i teach my 7 year old son to never leave trash my the water.

i think for the most part, the people who leave piles of trash are the same people who don't get fishing licences and pull more then the daily limit of fish... Evil or Very Mad

It does suck. No doubt. Carrying a shopping bag is a great idea. Handle you own trash and collect as much as the idiots leave behind.

I do the shopping bag thing as well, I could likely bring a city trash truck in and fill it.I have considered trying to organize clean ups in my area, I figure at this point maybe the best I can do is teach my kids and anybody else that will listen that it's THEIR future environment that they are ruining and making a mess out of.

A couple of years ago I remember seeing a couple of guys in a nice bass rig start tossing empty beer cans into the water as they were pulling into the launch. So it's not just the shore guys making this mess. If you fish clear water you will see plenty of cans and bottles on the bottom Exclamation It's the discarded fishing line that really gets me.

On Don's point, later in the summer when the water levels drop at Ponkapoag you can see many locations littered with beer cans in a few feet of water. Who the f*** are the morons that do this crap?

As bad as the general trash is, it the reason we are loosing acsess to a lot of ponds. It is the left behind and discarded plastic baits and fishing line that piss me off the most. Not only is it trash but also deadly to fish and birds.

The fishing line makes me angry too, not only is it deadly to wildlife, but my kids countless times have walked into it before I could see it and have come back with fishing line trailing behind them, as have I..nothing is better then bringing a fish in while standing on a rock, only to step back and realize you yourself are tangled in a mess of some jerks discarded line...

I never understood the mentality of the nitwits that litter while fishing. We keep all our trash in bags and make sure we don't leave any behind. If there isn't a barrel at the launch, I put it in my car and throw it away when I get home, fishing line and all! I just don't understand Confused

I always just leave all my trash in Neils boat
